UCBM in the US: started thanks to the Foundation fundraising campaign For Future Generations

For Future Generation has its first international appointment in New York.

A thematic university offering degrees in medicine, science and engineering – biomedical engineering, attractive for its three degree programs delivered in English: “Medicine and Surgery” and the new courses “Medicine and Surgery – MedTech” and “Biomedical Engineering,” which combine values, research and care in the city of Rome, a unique and beloved place abroad: these are the peculiarities of the Bio-Medical Campus of interest to the American context.

Proof of this was the full hall at the Italian Consulate in New York, where last May 15, 2023 the whole Campus System told his story at an event conceived by the Biomedical University Foundation and promoted by its Advisory Board, and by President Prof. Paolo Arullani, Stefano Anzilotti, Gregorio Baracchi Giovanni Castellaneta, Federica Marchini, Marco Sala.

A delegation from the Campus System was present to start a positioning and build a network of relationships to initiate collaborations and projects: together with Federica Marchini and Stefano Anzilotti, UCBM professors Fiorella Gurrieri, Full Professor of Medical Genetics, and Leandro Pecchia, Full Professor of Biomedical Engineering, both expressions of the binomial: science and health, Serena Bianchini external communications manager Biomedical University Foundation and Giovani Friolo, the University’s institutional relations manager.

The New York medical community was in the event: NYU Langone, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Mount Sinai and Cornell Weill attended, as well as many entrepreneurs and people from finance. Also present were former students who are now in the U.S. and enriching their experiences at hospitals, companies, medical or pharmaceutical institutions.

Strong was the Americans’ focus on the education offered, the investment in research, and the campus opportunity as a viable option for graduation.

The event, moderated by journalist Mario Platero, was enriched by the speech of Advisor for Fundraising Campus Bio-Medico in America Erik Dyson along with a greeting from Consul General Fabrizio Di Michele, and by Prof. Gaetano Rocco, Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York and Surgeon at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

In the presence of some former students of our University who are now in the U.S., UCBM Alumnus Raffaele Rocco, a 2015 graduate of Medicine and Surgery currently residing at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, ranked first among the world’s top hospitals, sent his testimony.

Board Member Federica Marchini, who spearheaded the event in New York along with Giovanni Castellaneta, former Italian ambassador to America, closed the event.

An overview of what engineers, doctors, carry out every day and the strong values of the Campus was shown by Fiorella Gurrieri: “Thinking beyond dreams means operating beyond borders: to reach dreams we must have the courage to confront the realities that surround us. This is how we grow better.” “If all roads lead to Rome then from Rome you can get anywhere,” adds Leandro Pecchia. “On campus we work to enable our students and researchers to take the road to their future, reminding them to keep the person at the center of their work, well done.”

Prof. Pecchia concluded with a brief summary of the research and innovation projects in medical, engineering, environmental and one-health fields not forgetting the areas of Artificial Intelligence, big data, robotics, genetics, hospital of the future, wearable sensors and nanotechnology, all applied to global challenges for the environment and the person.
