Advisory Board: the strategic role of the Biomedical University Foundation

On January 20, 2025, the Advisory Board of the Biomedical University Foundation was held at the prestigious headquarters of the National Association of Popular Banks in Rome.  

The meeting was opened by the President of the Advisory Board, Prof. Paolo Arullani, who emphasized the importance of the work carried out and the strategic role of the Biomedical University Foundation in supporting the projects of the UCBM and the Policlinico Universitario Campus Bio-Medico Foundation in Rome.  

In the presence of members connected remotely and on-site, the President of the Biomedical University Foundation, Alessandro Pernigo, provided a comprehensive overview of the activities carried out in 2024 and the strategic projects planned for 2025, both in Italy and the United States.  

With the support of the General Secretary, Laura Picalarga, the media and social impact of the scholarships awarded to underprivileged and deserving students through the Joaquín Navarro-Valls Scholarship Fund was presented. The third edition of the “International Prize for Leadership and Benevolence Joaquín Navarro-Valls” was also announced, scheduled for June 24, 2025, in the Sala della Protomoteca in the Capitoline Hill in Rome.  

During the meeting, Alessandro Pernigo highlighted the value of the current partnerships in Italy and presented the progress of Friends of UCBM, a recently established non-profit foundation in New York, which aims to enhance fundraising activities in the United States. New donor care templates were also introduced, designed to promote key projects and achieve the ambitious goals for 2025, including support for the Simulation Center, the future Research Center of the Policlinico Universitario Campus Bio-Medico Foundation, and the Human Flourishing program.  

The Advisory Board concluded with the approval of the internal regulations and the introduction of several new members, with the aim of addressing future challenges and continuing to support the University and the Policlinico Universitario Campus Bio-Medico Foundation.
