The first bionic wearable hand that “feels” objects
The purpose of the LifeHand project is to realize a bionic hand, which can communicate directly with the brain and assures the amputees all features similar to a natural hand, i.e. sensations, movement ability and objects manipulation.
Five Research groups have been involved in the project and many progresses were achieved in terms of performance and applied technologies, if compared to the previous experimentation carried out in 2008.
Among the future developments towards a new testing phase, we can also mention the HandBot Research program, coordinated by the Biomedical Campus University of Rome. For more information click here.
